Effective date: 12 October 2026.
DirectoryPilot is published by X9000.COM CONSULTING SERVICES LIMITED. This notice explains how the Windows application handles information when you connect to and manage an Active Directory environment.
Directory information
DirectoryPilot connects to the directory you choose, using your current Windows identity or an alternate account. Depending on your permissions and the features you use, it reads information such as names, account identifiers, email and postal addresses, job details, managers, group memberships, account status, logon timestamps, directory paths and object permissions.
This information is used to display, search, compare and export directory objects and to carry out the changes you confirm. Queries and confirmed changes are sent to your organisation’s directory infrastructure. DirectoryPilot does not automatically upload directory contents or usage telemetry to the publisher and contains no advertising service.
Credentials and connection security
Alternate credentials are held in memory for the connection and are not saved in application settings or diagnostic reports. Password values are excluded from local change history. Password-reset values are sent to the selected directory over LDAPS. Normal directory connections use LDAP signing and sealing or LDAPS with Windows certificate validation.
Information stored on your PC
DirectoryPilot stores files under the Windows user’s LocalApplicationData location, normally %LOCALAPPDATA%\DirectoryPilot. Windows packaging and profile configuration can affect the physical storage location.
- Settings and saved searches: display preferences, last domain/controller and connection mode, search names, domain paths, search text and preset criteria. These remain until you remove or replace them.
- Change history: timestamps, acting account, controller, target object, action, before/after property values and recorded outcome. Password values are excluded. History includes demo actions and has no automatic expiry in this version.
- Connection diagnostics: domain and controller names, application/Windows versions, connection stages and numeric error details. Passwords, account names, directory contents and raw server messages are excluded. The app retains the ten most recent connection reports.
- Operational logs: a limited set of events, such as application startup and settings-save availability. Old files are removed during logging after seven days; this is not a background deletion service when the app is closed. Logs rotate at approximately one megabyte.
Local files are not separately encrypted by DirectoryPilot. Their protection depends on Windows account access, device security and any disk encryption or backup arrangements you use. Change history may contain personal information and should be treated as directory data.
Exports, copying and sharing
Exports are saved to the location you choose. Copy commands put the requested information on the Windows clipboard. You control where you paste or share it; files saved to a synchronised or shared location may be available to others through that service.
The password-copy and diagnostic-report-copy commands request exclusion from Windows clipboard history and roaming. A copied password can still be pasted into another application. DirectoryPilot does not control the destination application or other clipboard software.
No diagnostic report is automatically sent to the publisher. If you choose to contact support, review and minimise the information you share first. Never include passwords. Information you voluntarily send to support will be available to the publisher and the services used to receive that support request.
Removing information
You can remove saved searches in the app. To remove local settings, logs or history, close DirectoryPilot and remove the relevant files from its local data folder, subject to your organisation’s retention requirements. This does not undo directory changes. Delete exports separately from the locations you selected and clear copied content using the relevant Windows or clipboard controls.
Do not assume uninstalling the app removes every exported file, backup or pre-existing data folder. Windows, the Microsoft Store and your organisation may maintain their own logs, backups and directory audit records under their own policies.
Your organisation and contact
Your organisation controls its directory, permissions and the purposes for which its information is used. For requests to access or correct information held in Active Directory, contact your organisation’s administrator.
